About this program
Monmouth University's B.A. in Music with Concentration in Musical Theatre builds upon a foundation in music, theatre, and dance performance, while training students in various areas of production and design. The program is taught by seasoned professionals with decades of experience on and off Broadway. Uniquely, Monmouth is the only program of its kind that teaches students all aspects of Equity production, including in-depth study of multiple Actors Equity Association contracts. Students gain real-world experience through Shadow Lawn Stage, an Equity regional theatre on campus, and have opportunities to join the Equity Membership Candidate program—a rare opportunity at the undergraduate level. Recent graduates have leveraged their EMC cards to secure auditions for Broadway productions such as "Next to Normal" and "Aladdin." The program emphasizes practical training through core courses in Acting, Acting for Television, Choreography, and Introduction to Theatre Production and Design, preparing students to become accomplished musicians, actors, managers, producers, agents, and entertainment executives.
