Monmouth College — Monmouth, IL
About this program
Monmouth College's B.A. in Theatre program trains students as theatre generalists who possess the full range of skills necessary for a career in theatre. Students graduate able to produce excellent work in all areas of theatre practice: acting, directing, design, management, and dramaturgy. The curriculum combines 8 credits of common experience courses—including Introduction to Theatre Studies, Stagecraft, Acting, Script Analysis, Theatre History, and Directing—with 3 credits of concentrated study in one of five specialized areas: Acting, Musical Theatre, Design and Technical, History and Literature, Management, or Generalist. This broad, practical training is supplemented by experiential learning through production work, allowing students to apply theatrical theories, techniques, and processes collaboratively while developing competency in artistic praxis and disciplinary research skills.
