The Bachelor of Music Performance at Mississippi College is offered through the Department of Music. The BM degree is for students looking to perform or compose as a profession. The Department of Music is designed to give talented students the opportunity to develop in both knowledge and skill, acquiring musical theory while refining musical ability. Outstanding practice labs and rehearsal facilities help students develop the discipline and commitment of the musician’s lifestyle. Music majors benefit from impressive facilities for practice and performance: the Aven Fine Arts Building includes an auditorium for opera and music theater productions and sixteen practice pianos including two grand pianos; the Mississippi College Band Hall holds a major rehearsal hall, practice rooms, and music library; the Leland Speed Library contains nearly 4,500 music-related volumes; and the Learning Resources Center contains 2,467 musical scores, 2,009 CDs, 3,967 records, and 337 music videos. Swor Auditorium is an impressive performance space seating up to 823 guests. The Jean Pittman Williams Recital Hall is a newly renovated space featuring two 7’ Steinway grand pianos and a 9’ Baldwin. Mississippi College is a private Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. NASM-accredited.
