BFA in Musical Theatre
Messiah University — Mechanicsburg, PA
About this program
Messiah University's BFA Musical Theatre program is part of the Department of Theatre and Dance, a rigorous program within a vibrant Christian liberal arts tradition. The program cultivates stewardship of intellect and imagination through hands-on experiences and a variety of Christian perspectives. Students engage theatre as a forum for civic dialogue where history, culture, politics, and religion intersect to give form and meaning to human experience. The curriculum combines applied studio courses in acting, directing, and technical production with coursework in dramatic literature, theatre history, and theory. As an audition-based program, all applicants must audition with department faculty. Messiah is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Upon graduation, students are prepared to meet the artistic and technical challenges of 21st-century theatre and to serve and lead new generations of artists and scholars.
