About this program
Georgia Southern's BA in Theatre is housed in the Department of Communication Arts. 'Because theatre is a business as much as it is an art, you'll also learn about auditioning, theatre management, portfolios and other professional standards.' VENUES: Centre for Art and Theatre (233 Pittman Drive, Statesboro) — state-of-the-art variable seating black box; primary performance venue. Performing Arts Center — 800+ seat proscenium; shared with national touring productions. SEASON: 4 mainstage productions/year; Contemporary and Classical rotation; African American Theatre, Shakespeare, new works. SETC: Technical and design students enjoy a 95% placement rate. ALL PRODUCTION AUDITIONS: Open to all students regardless of major. 'You do not need to have anything prepared. We encourage you to read the scripts ahead of time.' Callbacks held the following evening if needed. Students audition at 6:30 PM at the Centre for Art and Theatre. GEORGIA FILM INDUSTRY: Direct access to one of the US's top production states.
