About this program

Federation University Australia's Arts Academy is described as 'one of Australia's leading destinations for performing arts studies.' The Bachelor of Music Theatre and Acting is a 3-year, highly competitive degree combining intensive singing, acting, dancing, voice, movement, and theatre-making training. Entry is highly competitive — 'a far greater number of applicants are seen than there are places available, so many high-quality applicants are considered each year.' IMPORTANT: No deferrals are accepted. If unsuccessful, students are welcome to re-audition the following year. CURRICULUM: Acting; singing; voice; movement; dance; creativity; theatre-making; aerobic fitness; mindfulness. Students work alongside leading industry professionals: theatre directors, music theatre performers, screen actors, composers, musical directors, designers and choreographers. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES PREPARED FOR: Music theatre; theatre; film; stage; screen; cabaret; opera; comedy; streaming platforms; multi-media and emerging creative industries. AUDITION PROCESS — TWO-PART APPLICATION (both parts required): PART ONE (School-leavers): Apply through VTAC by the VTAC closing date. PART ONE (Non-school-leavers and interstate): Apply directly to Federation University at federation.edu.au. PART TWO (ALL applicants): Complete and submit the Audition Application Form. - Available at: federation.edu.au/arts-academy/study/performing-arts/auditions - After form is received, FedUni sends details for the online audition. - Late submissions will be advised of alternate audition arrangements. O-WEEK: Compulsory for all Performing Arts students. TUITION: Check federation.edu.au for current fees. Approximate domestic fee: AUD $16,000–$20,000/year.
