About this program
Edgewood University's BA in Music offers two concentrations within a Dominican liberal arts environment. Audition required for the music major. Adam Shelton. TWO CONCENTRATIONS: Music Media/Production — music technology, recording, audio engineering, music production; prepares for careers in recording industry, broadcasting, and music media. Liberal Arts Music — broad musical study integrated with liberal arts education; ideal for double majors or those interested in music history, theory, or community music. ENSEMBLES: Edgewood Chorale — auditioned ensemble; performs 4 concerts per year with orchestra; rehearses Monday and Wednesday afternoons; contact SPavlov@edgewood.edu. Guitar Ensemble — Tuesday evenings; repertoire spans medieval through jazz and rock; contact NWysock@edgewood.edu. Edgewood Chamber Orchestra — collaborative ensemble including professional performers from the Madison area; performs at McKinley Performing Arts Center; 4 free concerts per year; contact CBackman@edgewood.edu. Symphonic Band/Wind Ensemble — Wednesday evenings. INTERNSHIPS: Madison Symphony Orchestra; Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra; Wisconsin Public Radio; Wisconsin Center for Music Education. Madison's vibrant professional arts scene provides exceptional internship opportunities. LOCATION: 55-acre campus overlooking Lake Wingra; close to downtown Madison and the Overture Center.
