About this program
BFA in Theatre Design and Technology focuses on scenic, lighting, costume, and sound design, as well as stage management and technical production. Cap: ~4 Design/Tech BFA students per year. Portfolio review required. Drake Theatre maintains an unofficial cap of ~20 BFA students per year (16 performance + 4 design/tech) to keep class sizes low. Season includes 2 productions in the proscenium Performing Arts Hall (one musical, one non-musical) and 3 in the black box William S.E. Coleman Studio Theatre. Iowa Playwrights Series is expanding. All BFA majors must audition for Drake Theatre shows first and work on 2 Drake shows per semester.
