About this program
Doane University's Music Department in Crete, Nebraska offers BA degrees in Music with three emphasis areas: General, Performance, and Music Education (with Nebraska Teaching Endorsement). Approximately 200 music students; small classes provide intimate learning. Ensembles: Doane Choir (auditioned, premier ensemble; toured 13 countries, most recently Costa Rica), Collegiate Chorale (non-auditioned; 55–65 voices), Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble (auditioned; performs Dixieland, Big Band, Swing, Be-Bop, Fusion, Free Jazz Improvisation), Tiger Pep Band, chamber ensembles. Students can join NAfME chapter, assist with Tiger Band High School Invitational, Fall Festival of Winds, and Doane Vocal Festival. College owns two Steinway concert pianos. Doane Choir has sung in 13 countries. Music Education majors receive Nebraska teacher certification. NASM-accredited. Annual Doane Vocal Festival (high school singers).
