About this program
The Music major at Dartmouth provides a distinguished course of study in the history, literature, theory, and practice of music — in the classroom and in performance. Faculty draw on deep academic and professional experience. Students can pursue the AB in Music with concentration in Performance, Composition, or other areas. Applied lessons available to enrolled students by permission of instructors after competitive auditions at the start of each semester. Ensembles open to all Dartmouth undergraduates regardless of major; auditions held at the beginning of the academic year. Annual Duke Concerto Contest provides solo performance opportunities with the Duke Symphony Orchestra. Chamber music, a cappella groups, jazz, choral music available.
