BFA in Theatre (Acting Concentration)

About this program

Whether you love being on stage or prefer running the production behind the scenes, our Theatre program allows you to explore every facet of the craft and discover the roles that best match your strengths. You can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, and scholarships are available to help support your education. The Bachelor of Arts in an excellent option if you plan to double major or want a broad, flexible course of study. The Bachelor of Fine Arts offers a more immersive experience, with intensive training in performance and design, and provides strong preparation for entry into graduate programs. The C-SC Difference At Culver-Stockton, you will have the opportunity to get involved on stage and behind the scenes right away. There is no freshman freeze! From your first year forward, you can design mainstage productions, direct one-act and full-length plays, collaborate with visiting guest artists, compete in the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival, serve as a dramaturg, and even write and produce your own original work. Our faculty bring award-winning experience in screenwriting, design, and directing, with professional involvement on the national stage. You will also have access to two distinct performance venues: a traditional proscenium theater and a flexible black box space, allowing you to explore a full range of theatrical styles. Each year, we welcome accomplished guest artists who work directly with students on productions. Past guest artists have included Michael Boatman in Noises Off, Michael Brainard in War is Coming, Ernie Pyle, and Joseph Gatt in A Streetcar Named Desire.
