About this program
Belmont University's Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre is an award-winning, nationally ranked performance major designed for students with exceptional potential seeking a career in musical theatre. The program offers concentrated study in voice, theatre, and dance, along with advanced audition techniques and comprehensive career preparation. Multiple Belmont Musical Theatre productions have been recognized as winners of The American Prize in Musical Theatre Performance, and the Bachelor of Music program has been ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Students complete 135 hours of coursework including BELL Core Requirements (38 hours), Music Core (36 hours), Common Music Core (30-33 hours), Theatre Requirements (18 hours), Dance Requirements (10 hours), and specialized major coursework. The program is directed by highly trained professionals who maintain active careers in the industry and emphasize intensive conservatory-style training in theory, sight-reading, piano proficiency, and voice alongside practical experience through four musicals per year, a Freshman Showcase, and an NYC Industry Senior Showcase.
