The program engages the disciplines of drama, theatre, and performance studies as a distinctive mode of intellectual and artistic inquiry, combining rigorous critical and theoretical study with hands-on training in acting, directing, design, dramaturgy, playwriting, and stage and production management. Major requirements are the same for all students regardless of their home college. Students take foundational coursework in the literary, cultural, and embodied traditions of western and nonwestern performance, then specialize in a specific area for an advanced senior thesis.
