About this program
Avila University's BFA Theatre program is part of the School of Performing Arts, housed in the newly constructed Goppert Performing Arts Center. With a proud history and graduates spread across the country, the program nurtures students interested in pursuing careers in acting, directing, design and technology, or management. The broad curriculum and supportive community help students find their concentration and thrive after graduation. Students learn their crafts in a professional, state-of-the-art environment and benefit from partnerships with local theatre companies including New Theatre & Restaurant, Theatre for Young America, and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. Incoming freshmen are guaranteed access to an internship or research experience before graduation. The program emphasizes both on-stage and behind-the-scenes work, with recent productions including The Mousetrap, George Orwell's 1984, The Cherry Orchard, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
