About this program
Augustana College's Theatre program offers comprehensive training for students interested in performance, design, technology, and all aspects of theatrical production. Students gain more hands-on experience than at many undergraduate institutions, with opportunities to work as actors, designers, technicians, stage managers, directors, playwrights, and dramaturgs. The program is distinguished by its thematic approach to the performance season, which explores topics across multiple genres and historical periods. Students can choose emphases in performance, musical theatre, design and technology, or theatre history and research, and benefit from mentorship from faculty while participating in mainstage productions, student-produced studio seasons, and an annual Festival of Short Plays.
