BFA in Acting
Arcadia University — Glenside
About this program
Arcadia University's BFA in Acting is an intensive four-year program designed to develop actors through rigorous training in voice, movement, acting technique, and dramatic literature while maintaining a liberal arts education foundation. Students benefit from small, intimate classes that foster strong bonds with peers and faculty, and leverage Arcadia's proximity to Philadelphia's dynamic theater community, where professional artists from the region teach courses and direct productions. The curriculum spans 27-40 hours per week of direct faculty instruction, with the first two years focusing on developing the actor's imagination and inner resources, while years three and four emphasize style, historical periods, and various modes of behavior. BFA candidates are continuously engaged in rehearsal and public performance, with regular opportunities to perform in Arcadia Theater productions and student-run performance groups including improv, cabaret, and dance troupes. The program also offers a Musical Theater concentration that supplements core acting training with voice, dance, song interpretation, and performance practice courses.
