About this program
Angelo State University's Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program offers comprehensive training in all aspects of dramatic entertainment, from acting and performance to design, technology, playwriting, and directing. Students gain valuable practical experience through multiple theatre venues including the Blackbox Studio, the innovative Modular Theatre (one of only six of its kind in the U.S.), and the recently renovated Elta Joyce Murphey Auditorium. The program features state-of-the-art digital equipment, rigging, and in-house scenery and costume shops. Students can specialize as theatre generalists, in performance, design and technology, or pursue teacher certification. With five main productions per year plus student-led plays, all theatre majors have opportunities to audition for acting roles, work on technical crews, and participate in management and promotions. The faculty all have professional theatre experience and continue to work in the industry, allowing students to work side-by-side with experienced professionals in small class sizes.
