American University — Washington, DC
About this program
American University's BA in Theatre program provides students with the education to perform in, design, manage, or direct a production and succeed in a variety of professions within and beyond the performing arts. Grounded in a strong liberal arts tradition with a flexible curriculum and hands-on learning approach, the program offers six specializations: Performance, Design and Production, Directing, Playwriting, Theatre and Social Justice, and Theatre Arts. The department produces five mainstage shows per year in two venues -- the 296-seat Greenberg Theatre and the Studio Theatre in the Katzen Arts Center. Located in Washington, DC, students benefit from deep connections to the DC arts community, including The Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Signature Theatre, Ford's Theatre, and the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
