About this program

The Bachelor of Performing Arts (Acting) at Western Sydney University is a flagship three-year degree developed in collaboration with the nationally acclaimed Actors Centre Australia (ACA). This program revives the legacy of Theatre Nepean, Western's celebrated former acting program that produced renowned performers including Hugh Jackman, Joel Edgerton, Yvonne Strahovski, and Celeste Barber. The degree combines intensive, conservatory-style actor training with theoretical knowledge and industry connection, blending heritage with innovation. Students develop comprehensive skills through 20 core subjects covering acting technique, voice, movement, screen production, stage performance, and performance theory, complemented by four electives in areas such as screenwriting and digital media. The program emphasizes practical training with access to purpose-built performance and screen production facilities, alongside internships, mentorships, and industry engagement opportunities. Graduates are equipped with professional portfolios, artistic credibility, and industry connections to pursue careers as stage actors, screen actors, voiceover artists, producers, directors, or drama educators. This is a new program and is currently not open yet to international students.
